  • I grew up in Karachi, Pakistan and completed my BS in Economics and Mathematics at the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi before joining IMM Pakistan.

Mathematics is the language of all sciences. It is a diverse subject which extends to every other science known to man. This linking nature of mathematics has attracted me to pursue a career in mathematics with a dream to contribute a unified theory of sorts to the scientific community. It is my aim to gain mastery over the subject well enough to extend it to other disciplines.

On hearing of the IMM program and reading up on it, I found it to be very rigorous. The very fact that we are taught courses on the most fundamental topics is commendable and will help us greatly when conducting research. I have high hopes that this program will make all of us highly competent and will open doors to extraordinary opportunities. Furthermore, the opportunity to interact with our professors who conduct research at an international level is invaluable for any student.

I hope to pursue a PhD after this program which will bring me closer to my goal of conducting good quality research to contribute to the academic community. Additionally, I hope to serve my country with the knowledge I gain and will try to motivate more young minds to pursue a career in mathematics.

  • IMM Experience: The IMM has provided a life-changing experience for me. I look back to when I started and I realize that many concepts I thought I had understood at the time required serious improvement. I am grateful for being given the opportunity to improve my analytical skills as well as broaden my mathematical knowledge. Furthermore, the chance to meet like-minded individuals who shared my passion for mathematics and to study alongside them has definitely been worthwhile. After these intensive two years, I would not say that I have completely mastered every aspect of mathematics or even my chosen research field, however I can safely say that I have become competent enough to pursue higher studies in the subject.

Thoughts and Expectations: As I am about to pursue an equally or more intensive 5 year PhD program, I would be lying if I said that I am not nervous. Nonetheless, I intend to keep a positive attitude and hope to benefit as much as I can from this amazing opportunity. I have no doubt that my future studies will allow me to further improve myself both personally and academically. Moreover, I expect to meet other passionate students of mathematics and learn how to effectively collaborate with them to make me a better researcher.
